We at BearShare are sorry that you’re not fully satisfied with BearShare. The following sections include detailed uninstall instructions. Before you say goodbye, did you know you can change settings to your liking – for example, remove the specific features you don’t like AND keep enjoying BearShare

Please check out these options to tailor BearShare and change features according to your preferences:

1.     I would like to keep BearShare, but change my browser’s homepage

2.     I would like to keep BearShare, but change my default search engine / Location bar search

Microsoft Internet Explorer

In order to Disable the “Quick Access Tab” extension on chrome:
1. Enter Chrome's settings [top right of browser] and select 'Tools'. Then click on 'Extensions'.

2. Under the Extensions column, locate “Quick Access Tab” and unmark the small checkbox to the right side of it.

3. It's disabled!


In order to Remove Quick Access Tab” extension on Chrome:
1. Enter Chrome's settings [top right of browser] and select 'Tools'. Then click on 'Extensions'.

2. Under the Extensions column, locate “Quick Access Tab” and click on the small trash bin to the right side of it.

3. It's removed!

  3.     I would like to keep BearShare, but I want to remove the Music Toolbar from my computer

Before you remove the “Music” Toolbar, don’t forget it provides quick and easy access to your email, facebook, twitter, ebay and other social media accounts? You can also check out your favorite websites and browse music in just one click. Our toolbar is used by millions for easy access to the World-Wide Web.

 If you still prefer to remove the “Music” Toolbar, below are the links to help you do so. We’re also always happy to hear from you to learn what you like and don’t like about the Music Toolbar so that we can improve it to your liking here. Also, remember that you can always reinstall if you change your mind, which we hope you do.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Quickest method: Click the “X” button on the left side of the toolbar, and then click on “disable”.

Longer method: Right click anywhere on the toolbar. Uncheck the Music Toolbar from the drop-down menu and then click on “disable”.

Longest method: Go to: 'Start > Control Panel' and double click on 'Add or Remove Programs'. You will see a window with a list of the programs installed on your computer. Find the “Music” name, highlight it by clicking on it, and then click on the 'Uninstall' button (or 'Remove' in Windows XP).

Mozilla FireFox

Quickest method: Right click anywhere on the toolbar. Uncheck the Music Toolbar from the drop-down menu.

Longest method: Go to: 'Start > Control Panel' and double click on 'Add or Remove Programs'. You will see a window with a list of the programs installed on your computer. Find the “Music” name, highlight it by clicking on it, and then click on the 'Uninstall' button (or 'Remove' in Windows XP).

4.     I would like to remove the BearShare application from my computer

If you still choose to remove BearShare, below are the links to help you do so. We’re also always happy to hear from you to learn what you like and don’t like about BearShare so that we can improve it to your liking. Click here to let us know.

Please follow the instructions set out here:

  1. Close and exit BearShare completely.
  2. Go to: 'Start > Control Panel' and double click on 'Add or Remove Programs'. You will see a window with a list of the programs installed on your computer.
  3. Find the BearShare name; highlight it by clicking on it, and then click on the 'Uninstall' button (or 'Remove' in Windows XP).

Please note that if you purchased a subscription - uninstalling BearShare application does NOT cancel the monthly Premium subscription or the Pro subscription. Please contact our HelpDesk Billing  in order to cancel your subscription.

If you are having problems uninstalling BearShare, please try the following...

1. Close BearShare completely:

If the program is still running, you will see the BearShare icon in the bottom right-hand corner near the clock.

If you don't see it, but do see an arrow pointing to the left, or up, click the arrow, and more icons will be revealed.

When you have found the icon - Right-Click it and choose 'Exit'.

2. Go to your Windows: 'Start > Control Panel' and double click 'Programs and Features'.

(If you are using Windows XP, please go to 'Start > Settings > Control Panel' and double click 'Add or Remove Programs').

3. Now, you should see a window with a list of programs installed on your computer.

Find BearShare, highlight it by clicking on it, and then click on the 'Uninstall' button (or 'Remove' in Windows XP).

***NOW RESTART YOUR COMPUTER***

If you wish to reinstall:

Once the computer has been restarted, install the latest version of BearShare from www.BearShare.com 

Note: If you are already a registered member of BearShare and have a freshly installed BearShare, the registration screen will appear asking you to register.

Since you already have an active account, click the 'Already Registered? Click here to sign in' button. This will pop open the BearShare login screen.

Sign in to your account using your e-mail address and password, and wait for BearShare to sign in.

Note: If you purchased a subscription - uninstalling the BearShare application does NOT cancel the monthly Premium subscription.
